Hello everybody and welcome to the brand new world of 2015! We hope you all had a fantastic New year’s Eve celebration. To kick off the 2015 year, your favorite werewolf cartoonist is writing this month’s Pick of the Month selection. And I have selected a comic strip written by Cory Matthews and illustrated by Eryck Webb titled TnC – which is short, I think, for Tia and Cory.
Cory and Eryck recently celebrated a successful Kickstarter campaign for their first book and their Kickstarter page is where you can really find the most information about their strip. Here’s a brief descript of TnC in Cory’s own words:
TnC focuses on myself, my wife Tia, and our two kids Mitchell and Ciara. we have also expanded to enjoy the company of our little nephew Colby. Along with the family pets Jazmyn and Steve, TnC is rounded out with all the love that fills our house.
TnC is loosely based on true stories. Yes, I have shot a staple into my hand to win a bet. Yes, I have also been badgered about my name. And yes, I do fantasize regularly of being a masked crime fighter.
If you’re looking for a great strip that’s fun for the whole family, I would absolutely recommend adding TnC to your webcomic reading bookmarks. The art is extremely inviting and the writing will make you think of the television series, Home Improvement if Tim Allen was reimagined as a comic book geek instead of a Home Improvement television host.
And, for anyone that is married – especially if they are married to someone they consider a “geek”, many of the TnC strips will resonate quite well. In fact, as you discover the crazy antics Cory and Tia go through, you might just be wondering if Cory has hired a bunch of ex-NSA people to spy on you and your spouse. I know I certainly wondered if someone was spying on my as I was reading some of Cory and Eryck’s strips.
Plus, there’s a ton of comic book related humor that any hardcore comic book geek would appreciate. If you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory, you’ll find similar comic book humor in this strip. But, even if you’re not a fan of TBBT, I think you’ll still enjoy the strip. I know I really became a fan from the very first strip I saw that Cory posted on Facebook.
As typical in most things, the first thing that caught my eye was Eryck’s great art but what kept me hanging around and reading more TnC was the humor. It really is a nice blend of art and writing and, as we all know, that can be a very difficult thing to achieve when two people are working on a single strip. Or, at least, it’s a very hard thing to maintain for an extended period of time. But Cory and Eryck have managed to do that for over a year with the addition of a very successful Kickstarter campaign.
Being a relatively new comic strip in its first year of existence and still achieve their Kickstarter campaign goals in their very first attempt should be a testament of exactly why you should give this comic strip a chance. I’m sure once you do, you’ll end up enjoying it as much as I do.

Chris Flick just figured out how to put his photo and bio information at the end of these Webcomic Alliance articles. When he’s not wracking his brain on how to do that, he’s busy being a full time web and graphic designer working in the Washington DC area. When he’s not doing that, he’s working on his Capes & Babes webcomic which he created back in 2007. When he’s not doing ANY of those things, he’s usually at a convention on the east coast of the United States.
Chris just recently published his 1,000th Capes & Babes strips. You can read them all by going to his website, Capes & Babes. You can also visit his woefully outdated portfolio web site at CSF Graphics. And if you’re interested in seeing some of the wild Minion Mash-ups Chris has become known for, you should visit his Pinterest Minion Mash-Up Board. You can also find Chris on Facebook and Twitter by doing a search for “Capesnbabes”.
