Webcomic Workshop Podcast #56 After The Show

Solving Webcomic Issues We All Face.

This podcast we discuss:

Our regularly scheduled podcast was blown up by our recording software, so in its placed we offer you this conversation we had at the end of a podcast recently.  We often have a lot of discussions once we “finish” the podcast and we’re still recording.  In this case, it came in handy.

So this topic is about how women are drawn in mainstream comics, particularly in poses that are ridiculously impossible.  Chime in and let us know what you think about this controversial subject.

  1. Le sigh. The old line of “empowerment” to cover up for cheesecake faptitude. Drawing crappy brokeback pictures and trying to pass them off as “female empowerment” is like saying 50 Shades of Gray is meaningful literature. Yeah, no. As a woman who is descended from no less than two generations of working women, the holder of an engineering degree, and author of several graphic novels, I think I know a little more about what an empowered woman looks like than some dude with his hand in his pants.

I wish they would just admit that brokeback is about drawing titties for titties’ sake. At least I’d appreciate their candor.

  2. Well damn… The argument came up again and I kid you not I started cussing at my drawing board. Well done Robin and Dawn, this was WAY to short, but highly engaging.(And thanks for the brief shout out, I had a blast on that podcast a while back.)
