Webcomic Workshop Podcast 84

Solving Webcomic Issues We All Face.

This podcast we discuss: We talk about ending your creative ventures. Bringing your comic to a close. Finishing a big project. Moving on to a better job. Or even in someone’s case, moving on from the Alliance. We say goodbye to Drezz and welcome in Liz Staley of Adrastus webcomic.

    • I’ll probably pop in with a comment or two. Maybe hop in on a podcast when needed – but the time has come for me to move on from Webcomic Alliance stuff. I just couldn’t give it the attention it deserved, so I felt it was right to give the chair up to someone who is committed to comics.

I’m actually starting a YouTube channel. Being an idiot, playing games. You know… being Drezz. 😀

  1. I “pulled the plug” on one of my strips a little while back, so it was interesting hearing about how other people handled it. My experience was a lot like Dawn’s — it got to the point where the strip was more of a chore than a pleasure, and taking breaks wasn’t helping, so it was time to go. (I can also relate to Robin’s dislike of coloring…I swear, any new strips I start in the future are gonna be B&W!)

One thing I don’t think you touched on was making the actual announcement, and what kind of reactions you got from the fans. I opted not to say anything in advance, I just included a blog post with the last strip that explained that was it. Making a big deal about ending would’ve felt weird to me, I didn’t want to turn the last few weeks of the strip into a funeral march. But I can see the argument that loyal readers might’ve deserved a little more warning.

In any event, best of luck to Drezz on his upcoming projects, and welcome aboard to Liz!
