WA Podcast 119 – Long Form Defined

Solving Webcomic Issues We All Face.

Today’s discussion…

Long Form Defined (Episodic Webcomic). Byron was wondering what defines a long-form comic. His question was “I do not draw a ‘strict’ long-form comic, but I have do 24-page story arcs. What defines a long-form comic? Can it be something like I do at 1977 the Comic where I tell stories of my characters in a fairly chronological order?” Byron is joined by Liz Staley of Adrastus, Christina Major of Sombulus, and special guest Dave Barrack of Girl Power, to try and come up with an answer.

  1. That was a fun podcast to listen too, thanks guys you got me past another hour of inking (urgh!) .
My comic is long form and i think of it as a web soap opera. I break my comic down in to seasons and each season has three chapter that will cover a topic from different characters and as this comic is about lives of people in a city it works well for me to write this way.

also i had to laugh at the thought of some poor hungry dude waiting 58 hours only to receive a plastic pizza !

    • You’re welcome that we helped you survive another hour of inking. 🙂

“Web Soap Opera” is a cool category. I wish I could come up with a category name for my comic… besides Sex, Drugs, & Rock ‘n’ Roll.
